Diana S. Newman, CFRE, Principal

Diana Newman specializes in strategic planning, planned giving, and endowment building. She is the author of Nonprofit Essentials: Endowment Building (John Wiley & Sons, 2005) and Opening Doors: Pathways to Diverse Donors (Jossey-Bass, 2002). In 2003, she won the AFP/Skystone Ryan Prize for Research.

From 1990 to 1995, Ms. Newman was Vice President for Advancement at the Columbus Foundation. During her tenure, gifts of $135 million were received, a national record for community foundations at that time. She is the co-founder of the original Leave A Legacy Program, a community-wide collaboration to encourage people from all walks of life to leave gifts to the charity of their choice. Today, Leave A Legacy programs are under way in more than 150 communities in the U.S. and Canada. From 1983 to 1990, she was the founding director of the Ohio Historical Foundation.

A member of the Board of Trustees for the National Committee for Planned giving (1999-2002), Ms. Newman has also served on the board of the Central Ohio Planned Giving Council and was its president in 1998. She is currently on the Research Council for the International Association of Fundraising Professionals.
